Fr. Glenn Spencer became vicar of Christ the King in 2026 after the church became a mission of the Anglican Province of America (APA). He previously served as rector for All Saints Anglican Church in Ivy, Virginia from 1991-2024. He received a Master of Divinity degree in 1991 from Duke University where he studied with Geoffrey Wainwright. After graduating he completed an internship in Clinical Pastoral Education at Duke Medical Center. Fr. Spencer received a BA in Philosophy from Elon University where he studied with John Sullivan and he studied the short story and poetic form with Fred Chappel at UNC-Greensboro. Fr. Spencer takes great joy celebrating the daily mass and reading theology and philosophy especially the works of Fr. Eric Lionel Mascall & Fr. Bernard Lonergan. Fr. Spencer and his wife, Ann, enjoy spending time with their grandchildren and fishing along the North Carolina coast.
Fr. David Reed was ordained as a United Methodist pastor in 1979 and served as a Chaplain in the U.S. Navy for 21 years. After retirement he was named Director of the Wesley Foundation at Old Dominion University. Fr. Reed was appointed Pastor of Staunton’s Central United Methodist Church in 2001 and retired in 2008. Upon his retirement he served as the executive director of the Valley Mission. In January 2015 he was ordained a Deacon within the Anglican Church in North America & was ordained a Priest in September 2015. Fr. Reed is the founding Priest and first Vicar of Christ the King. In 2026, he and Christ the King were received into the Anglican Province of America as a mission church. Fr. Reed is also an avid camper and sports fan — he particularly loves the Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball team!
